Earth’s Mysterious Hum


All quiet on the Weston front… Well, sort of…

This is a VERY quiet day “quake-wise” in the Earth beneath Weston Observatory, but even when there are no quakes, the Earth has a constant background “hum”, the so-called “microseismic” activity.

The first picture shown here is Sunday’s Weston Observatory seismogram that we set at a typical level of magnification. In the second picture, we magnified the waves by a factor of 10 greater than in the first, so there you can watch the Earth “hum…
