Magnitude 7.3 – EL SALVADOR, Magnitude 5.1 – NICARAGUA, Magnitude 5.0 – MEXICO – August 27, 2012


BC-ESP seismographs recorded the following earthquakes on August 27, 2012:

Magnitude 7.3 – 111km S of Puerto El Triunfo, El Salvador
Magnitude 5.1 – 113km SW of Jiquilillo, Nicaragua
Magnitude 5.0 – 84km SSW of Puerto Penasco, Mexico

“Some minor shaking was reported (in El Salvador). There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
A tsunami warning was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center for El Salvador and the neighboring countries of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico.
A small wave caused by the quake was recorded at Acajutla, El Salvador, measuring about 10 centimeters (4 inches).”
