Magnitude 5.4 – MYANMAR-CHINA BORDER REGION – March 10, 2011


An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred in the Myanmar – China Border Region on March 10, 2011.
This quake was not recorded by the BC-ESP because of its size and distance away from our seismographs.

Despite the moderate size of this earthquake, there have been 16 deaths reported and 160 people are injured.

Beijing (CNN) reports — The death toll from Thursday’s earthquake in southwest China is at least 16, with more than 160 injured, a local official told CNN.  It collapsed houses in the remote Yingjiang county in Yunnan province, according to a county official who would provide only his surname, Ke — a common practice among officials.
